Play Skills

Much like social skills, play skills help children interact and engage, as well as gain self-confidence and grow their knowledge of the world through play. Children may have difficulty with play skills if they need an adult guidance to initiate play, if they move quickly from one activity to the next, or if they participate in repetitive play for hours (e.g. lining up toys). Children who do not explore toys, or do not join others – peers or siblings – when playing may also face play skill developmental challenges.
